Course Description:

This online course will take you through the building blocks of both hair and skin. Looking at the layers of the skin and the structure of the hair. Firstly, you will discover skin has three compartments epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. Learn about the functions of each and how this contributes to the environment hair grows in. Then learn more about the internal message centre and the hair bulb environment that the hair fibre grows in.

This course will take you inside the hair and teach you about the cuticle, cortex and medulla. Before taking a closer look at melanin and how this affects natural hair colour. The final component covers how strong and weak bonds influence temporary or more permanent shape changes and will help you understand how heat styling and chemical services work. Throughout the course there are videos, voice explanations, visuals and interactive quizzes to test your knowledge. It is perfect for someone training or anyone that is interested in the fundamentals of hair. Note: This course does not cover the growth cycle of the hair.
